Welcome From the Founder of Schools
As parents, one of the most important decisions you will make is where your child’s education will begin. I am happy that you and your child are considering becoming a part of Country Day For Children.
The Montessori approach to education is one that believes your child can reach his/her full potential when given the gift of a Montessori education. Joyful learning that stimulates the child’s curiosity, builds self-confidence and a sense of responsibility and also fosters friendships, love and respect, is one of the benefits of a Montessori education.
Our peaceful classrooms develop a sense of belonging within our school community. We prepare our children to grow up and become life-long learners as they prepare for their role in the 21st Century.
While considering our school, ask yourself what steps you can take to lay the foundation for your child’s future success. Your child only gets one childhood and you will get only one chance to make it exceptional.
Thank you for exploring how a Montessori education can ignite your child’s potential for life-long learning and success by joining us at Country Day For Children.

Welcome From our Operator
Dear Country Day for Children Family:
I would like to welcome the students, families, and community to Country Day for Children. I feel that it’s the school and my personal mission to make sure all students feel a sense of family and pride while attending our school. Like our founder Mrs. Cynthia Thomas, I believe incorporating the Montessori model into the educational standards that every school child will learn only enhances the individual child’s depth of knowledge. It is my hope that every child will take their experience from Educational Horizons and implement it into their lives to become lifelong learners.
I believe that each students that attends will find a nurturing environment that provides opportunities for each child to increase their personal self-esteem. We do this by having all staff commit to both academic performance and social and emotional wellbeing.
I come to Country Day for Children from a wealth of educational experiences. I have served as a successful social studies teacher with some of the highest scores on our state assessments in Ohio. I have also served as a coach of two Senate League Championships. In addition, I have spent over 18 years as either an assistant principal, principal or superintendent. The last ten years, I have been founding, operating and managing charter schools all over the U.S. I am the founder and lead developer of Monroe Preparatory Academy the only charter school in the city of Sandusky, Ohio. I am currently licensed as a teacher, principal and superintendent.
I look forward to seeing everyone on campus. Stay well and welcome to Country Day for Children.
Respectfully,
Dr. Erik A. Thorson
